The work of Otl Aicher, graphic design icon,  has heavily influenced the way we view public branding and community visualization.  Nothing best demonstrates this than Aicher’s probable best known work to those outside the world of design, in his role as lead designer for 1972 Olympics in Munich. In representation of each sport, Aicher created a set of pictograms that set the path for the way that we view stick figures in signs.  But taking another look at the competitive posters  you can see that there is mastery in the branding of the Olympic spirit that is timeless and raises level of promotional work to art.
